Refunds & Deferrals

Runner at the Ventura Marathon


The Ventura Marathon does not offer refunds (industry standard) however we partnered with Allianz Global Assistance (AGA) to offer refund insurance for participants. This must be selected while registering and is handled entirely by AGA.
If you purchase the race insurance you will receive an email from AGA to pay and with details on your coverage.

If you have purchased event registration insurance for an event and have a question or claim, please contact Allianz Global Assistance.

Refunds will not be given if a participant does not agree with any safety procedures we put in place. 


You can defer your entry to the following years event for $20. Deferral means you are registered for the current event but are opting to not run and to transfer your entry to the following years event. You can do this within your RunSignUp account ( )

Event Cancellation

Ventura Marathon reserves the right to cancel any race due to weather, air quality or other factors outside of our control. We do not foresee this happening and the only time we had to cancel an event was due to covid. Again we do not foresee this happening. In the event it does happen we will do our best to be fair and reasonable. When we had to cancel for covid we offered refunds or deferrals however this happened before we had spent a lot of money. If we were forced to cancel a week before the event we would have already paid for most expenses and thus would not be able to provide refunds.
